The problems with the traditional WEB login authentication:

The traditional WEB authentications (Internet or Intranet) are all based on authentication parameters which are known by the user (something you know – User name/Password/PIN). This method has three major drawbacks:

1. Everyone who knows the username and password is identified as a valid user.
2. The complexity of storage and maintenance of the database of users. This database shall be stored securely, it attracts hackers’ attacks, and its protection demands additional efforts. 
3. The human factor. User cannot remember complicated password and, therefore, a big part of the support call requests have to do with requests to reset or remind password; alternatively, users usually select simple passwords, which in turn compromises security.

The n-Surf is a Strong Authentication technology that transforms the WEB authentication to a secured, user-friendly, three-factor log-in method.

The n-Surf technology adds two security layers: 
- Something you have: the n-Tegrity Biometric reader
- Something you are: your own unique fingerprint.

Although, we have increased the security layers with two identification factors, the user’s interface has become easier to use. In addition, implementing the n-Surf authentication application makes the authentication mechanism extra safe from identity theft. Once implemented, and in addition to these two security parameter, the n-Surf allows an additional level of security in the form of PIN or Password, in a way that will be integrated with the customer’s traditional security mechanism, but still will not compromise on the security level and will not permit Identity theft. Furthermore, the application is built in a way that the secured PIN/Password will never be recorded by the system (or the n-Tegrity), and stays unique to the knowledge of the user only.

The actual implementation of the n-Surf: The n-Surf is an easy to integrate server-based application. It is an addition to an existing Database authentication system, and adds simplicity, ease of management, and higher level of security to the corporate confidential stored information. Like any Database, the user has to register for the first time, but in the case of the n-Surf, also the registration process is automatic – all the user’s data, including the user’s Public Key will be auto-filled from the n-Tegrity device, and the user has to only confirm his registration. From that point on, the user will be able to log-in to the WEB site while identifying with his fingerprint. The best news is that this personalized authentication can be executed from any Internet connected PC. The only requirement is an Internet explorer browser – Nothing to install, and nothing to remember anymore!!
